The Northridge Vikings lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat to Utica on Monday. The game was tied at four with Utica batting in the top of the seventh when S Elliott hit a solo homer.
The Vikings scored two in the first when Halleigh Carter walked and was moved to second on a single by Madie Legg. A grounder by Megan Payne moved the runners to second and third base. Alyson Quinlan brought both runs in on a triple to right field.
Utica captured the lead in the second inning when two errors scored two runs for Utica.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, Northridge tied things up at four. An error scored two runs for the Vikings.
Elizabeth Dyke got the win for Utica. She surrendered four runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out six.
Savanna Verhovec took the loss for the Vikings. She allowed eight hits and five runs over seven innings, striking out two and walking one.
Northridge totaled six hits. Madie Legg and Alyson Quinlan all managed multiple hits for Northridge Vikings Varsity. Legg went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Northridge in hits.
Utica racked up eight hits in the game. S Estep, Dyke, and Elliott all had multiple hits for Utica.
