Northridge’s bats were strong against Utica on Friday, but it wasn’t enough as Northridge Vikings Varsity fell 13-10.
The Vikings got things moving in the first inning, when Savanna Verhovec, Madie Legg and Alyson Quinlan each hit a solo homer.
Utica took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth E Dyke singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run, R Lees singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, A Ryan lined out, driving in a run, and K Robinson doubled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Utica scored six runs in the third inning. Utica batters contributing to the big inning included S Elliott, S Estep, Ryan, Robinson, and T Heckman, all knocking in runs in the inning.
Dyke was the winning pitcher for Utica. She allowed 15 hits and ten runs over seven innings, striking out three.
Madie Legg took the loss for Northridge Vikings Varsity. She lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing eight hits and seven runs.
Northridge tallied four home runs on the day. Along with Verhovec, Legg and Quinlan, Rachael Webb scored three runs on a homer in the sixth inning.
The Vikings collected 15 hits. Verhovec, Legg, Webb, Quinlan, and Caroline Liggett each racked up multiple hits for Northridge. Legg and Verhovec each collected three hits to lead the Vikings.
Utica scattered 19 hits in the game. Lees, Dyke, Heckman, Estep, O Rodeniser, Robinson, and Elliott all managed multiple hits for Utica. Lees led Utica with four hits in four at bats.
