The cross country team competed Saturday at the Newark Catholic Invitational at Bryn Du Mansion in Granville. The invitational drew 30 schools, 50 teams, and over 600 runners for the three-mile race.
The Northridge boy’s team placed 18th, with senior Colin Evans leading the pack with a time of 19:08, followed closely by senior Matt Krehel at 19:20. Senior Bryan Diedrich shaved five minutes off his previous race time; Junior Jesper Lund took 2.5 minutes off his previous season’s best time; sophomores Sven Stalder and Graham Garee dropped four minutes off their previous times; and freshman Brian Scott placed third for the team at 20:58, three minutes faster than his PR.
The girl’s team placed 19th. Seniors Josie Bunstine, Leyna Varney, Emily Jesenko, Haley Trimble, Megan Messer, and Graicenn Collins all achieved their best times of the season so far, as did sophomore Anna Edwards.
The teams compete again Wednesday at Big Walnut.
